Rhonda's View
(A few months later!)
"Amber, my stomach isn't going to fit into that dress!" I said.
"Don't worry. We'll get it a couple of sizes bigger. I'm sure these people deal with pregnant brides maids all of the time." The sales lady smiled and nodded agreeing with Amber. "Besides, you're the matron of honor so your dress can be different if it needs to be."
I took a deep breath and walked around the dress shop. All of the dresses were straight, form fitting dresses. I was about to tell Amber to just replace me in the wedding but I knew she wouldn't let me out of it that easy.
"How about this one?" Amber said as she held up a dress.
"How far along are you?" asked the sales lady as she began to take my measurements.
"Four and a half months," I answered.
"Well, I would say go up at least two sizes and then have it taken in where you need it."
"Two freakin' sizes. I hope that will be enough," I mumbled.
The sales lady finished with my measurements and Amber tried to make small talk. "So, how was your doctor's appointment? Did Howie go with you? Did you find out the sex? Tell me!!"
"Fine, yes and yes. Are you happy now?" I snapped at Amber.
"Is anything wrong with the baby?" Amber asked extremely concerned.
"No, nothing is wrong with the baby, well...except that there's two of them instead of one."
Amber's face dropped to the ground. "Maybe we should go up three sizes," she laughed.
Double Shower
Amber's View
Everyone was sitting around Howie and Rhonda's house at a double shower. We had decided to combine their baby and our wedding shower into one big party with all of our parents there.
"I can't believe my little boy is going to be a father," Howie's mother said hugging Rhonda for the hundredth time that day. "I can't believe how big your getting already."
"Yeah have you thought of any names for them yet?" AJ asked walking into the living room carrying the dip.
"What do you mean them?" Kevin asked looking up confused.
"Your having twins?!" Missy shouted as she began to jump up and down excitedly.
"How the hell did you know?" Rhonda asked AJ shooting me a dirty look from across the room. AJ just looked guilty and pointed at me. "Amber!"
"What he is my fiancée - I'm not supposed to keep anything from him. I told him not to tell!" I knew the excuse was stupid. The truth was he had coaxed it out of me last night using means only AJ could.
AJ's mom started laughing from her seat where she was holding Arrianna. "My son can't keep anything a secret."
Rhonda's View
Howie and I looked at each other and had to laugh. "Okay, okay!" Howie said. "We're having twins. A boy and a girl. We've tossed around a couple of names, but haven't come up with anything yet. When we decide, we'll make sure that AJ knows so he could tell everyone." AJ looked up slightly offended.
"You know," AJ said, "Alex is a good name."
"No, Nick is a much better name," Nick said.
"Okay, Nick can be the boy and the girl can be Alexandria," AJ said and Nick shook his head in agreement.
Howie whispered into my ear, "These next few months are going to be really long, aren't they?"
"I hope so. I'm not exactly ready for two babies." AJ must have overheard my comment because he handed me Arrianna.
"Here you go," he said, "you can get some practice changing diapers." I quickly handed Arrianna over to Howie who reluctantly accepted the job.
