ONLY IN OUR DREAMS
Chapter 38

Amber's View

"Can I take it off now?" AJ complained tugging on his tie. I saw how uncomfortable he seemed to be and I decided to give him a break - he had been well behaved the whole day.
"Go ahead." As soon as the sentence was out of my mouth his tie was off and on the table.
"Thanks babe!" he said kissing my cheek. "Hey where'd Squeaker get to - last time I saw her she was giving Howie a good run around again. I think she's making him think twice about kids."
I laughed as I saw Arrianna run by just then in just her diaper and an under shirt. Howie and Brian followed carrying her clothes, which she must have figured out how to get out of. "I found her, " I said pointing in the direction that Howie and Brian were running in now. "Why don't you go save your friends from our little terror." I began to laugh even harder as AJ joined in the chase.
"Hey Squeak come here," Nick called. I was amazed when she came straight to him. Hmmmm I think I had just found a new baby sitter. He was great with Patrick after all and the way him and Missy were going he might just need the practice.
"It is now time for the bridal dance," the DJ announced over the speakers. I found AJ and we headed out onto the floor.
"This is our song baby," AJ whispered to me as the first strain of 'I Swear' came on.

Rhonda's View

"Look how swollen my poor feet are," I said as I threw my legs up onto Howie's lap.
"Well, I've heard that happens!" he laughed. "How are you holding up? You look pretty tired."
"I'm fine. I just wish the DJ would slow the songs down a bit. These kids definitely got your dancing shoes."
"We can go home early if you want to."
"I can't leave Amber and AJ's wedding! They'd kill me!!"
"Honey, I think that Amber would definitely understand if you want to leave a bit early."
"No, I'm good for now. But I wouldn't mind putting my head down for a little bit." Howie pulled his chair over and put my head on his shoulder.

Amber's View

"Okay all singles guys onto the dance floor for the garter toss!" the DJ announced. Poor Nick was the only guy walking out onto the floor.
"Do I win by default?" Nick asked. A few more guys finally wandered onto the dance floor but none of them looked too anxious to catch the garter. Nick winked at Missy. "Don't worry babe, I'll get it!"
"You better watch yourself Nick – you see what happened when I caught it," AJ yelled from the top of the staircase. AJ turned around and threw the garter into the small crowd of men below. Nick was the only one who grabbed for it.

"O.k. my turn," I said as the DJ announced. I looked down at the crowd below me. Unlike the men there were a lot of anxious women standing below trying to catch the bouquet.
"I have to catch it!" one woman exclaimed. "The last time a single Backstreet Boy caught the garter…well needless to say we're at his wedding to the one who caught the bouquet."
"Yeah," another one said – I didn't recognize them so they must have been from AJ's side, "Nick is the only single one left."
I saw Missy's face go red with anger. I thought for sure she was going to hit someone, but my sister Terri, who happened to have heard what was going on, put her arm around Missy and lead her to the other side of the mob. I felt really bad for her – even though all of us knew that Missy and Nick weren't ready to get married yet, I knew she didn't want anyone else to catch it. I tried to gauge where she was as I turned around to get ready for the toss.
"She's on your right." AJ said to me jerking his head in Missy's direction.
"I know, but I don't know if I can get it to her with all those others out there."
AJ peered out at the women, some of whom had taken their shoes off to get ready to catch it. "Well Missy looks kinda pissed off at the Nick comments so you better find a way to get it to her."
"One – two - three," the DJ yelled. I didn't know what else to do so I turned around, leaned over the balcony and threw the bouquet straight at Missy. My aim was perfect there was no way she could have missed.
"Hey that's cheating!"
I just shrugged my shoulder and said, "My wedding – my rules." I grabbed AJ's hand and we headed down the stairs to where Missy and Nick were standing by the chair looking rather uncomfortable all of a sudden.
"Nice throw Amber – was that a hint or something?" Missy asked.
"Look, I know you guys aren't ready for marriage yet. Let's just say that was for when you finally decide you are. Besides Missy looked like she would clobber anyone who even tried to catch that bouquet."
"You know the drill," the DJ said interrupting our conversation "Now get that garter up there and get this couple lots of years of good luck." Nick kneeled down and very enthusiastically slipped the garter up Missy's leg – far up Missy's leg.
"Nick you can stop now, I think me and Amber will have good luck until we die!" AJ said as Nick's hands disappeared even further up Missy's dress.
Nick stopped and pulled his hands back. "Just doing what I can to help you two."

"The ceremony was beautiful honey."
"Thanks mom," I said as to her as she stood there with Arrianna in her arms. "I can't believe I'm a married woman now."
"I can. I knew you loved him from the first moment we arrived and I saw you look at him and when he made that speech to your father…well…I knew he was the one." She looked downat Arrianna who was snuggled up to her grandmother. "She looks more and more like him everyday you know."
"Yeah, I know."
"Except for those big brown eyes – those are yours."
"Hey mom." AJ came up and gave my mother a kiss on the cheek. "Do you think I could borrow my daughter for a minute, there's something important I want to do with her."
"Sure," my mother said handing Arrianna over to her father.
"What do you need to do with her?" I asked. Flashes of the time he gelled her hair up to look like his popped into my mind.
AJ just winked at me. "You'll see." He walked over to Howie who handed him something and then walked over to where the DJ was and handed it to him.
"Will everyone please clear the dance floor." The DJ announced over the microphone. I looked at my mother who just shrugged. I grabbed her hand and pulled her over to the dance floor.
"What is he doing?" Rhonda asked walking over from the dessert table.
"I don't know but I guess we'll soon find out," I said shaking my head and wondering what was up AJ's sleeve.
The DJ continued on. "I know we've already had the traditional Father/Daughter dance, but I've had a request to have another." AJ walked out onto the dance floor with Arrianna in his arms.
"Hi daddy!" she said loud enough to make the crowd around them giggle.
"Hi baby. Do you wanna dance?" Arrianna shook her head yes as the music started to play.

When the sun goes down and it's getting late
You say it's time for bed
She just takes her time
Acting like she never heard a word you said
Little baby wanna hold you tight
She don't ever wanna say goodnight
She's a lover, she wanna be Daddy's Girl

When the morning comes
And it's time to start another day
She won't let you leave, and she does her best
To try to make you stay
Pretty baby gonna start to cry
She don't ever wanna say goodbye
She's a lover, she wanna be Daddy's Girl

She don't ever wanna be without you
Never have to worry she won't doubt you
Then she puts her head upon your shoulder
Says she'll marry you when she gets older

When the time has come, and she's old enough
To be on her own
She won't understand why you're feelin' sad
'Cause she's leaving you all alone
Little woman gonna make you cry
You don't ever wanna say goodbye
She's a lady, she'll always be Daddy's Girl

Little woman gonna break your heart
Gonna miss her when you're both apart
She's a lady, but she'll always be Daddy's Girl

She'll always be Daddy's Girl…

There wasn't a dry eye in the whole reception hall, including mine, as the song ended and AJ gave Arrianna a kiss on the forehead.
"Give your mommy a kiss," AJ said walking over to me. Arrianna bent over and gave me a big kiss. AJ put her down and she quickly headed over to where Rhonda was by the dessert table again. "My turn." AJ kissed one of the tears rolling down my cheek and then gave me a slow kiss on the lips.
"That was by far the sweetest thing you've ever done!" I said. "I just have one question for you though."
"What's that?"
"What about daddy's little boy?"
"What are you talking about?" he asked with a confused look on his face.
"Well…I'm just saying that this one could be a boy."
"Are you telling me that you're…that we're…how far along are you?"
"Almost two months. I didn't want anyone to know until after the wedding."
"Than it's a good thing you didn't tell me sooner!" AJ laughed. "Are you o.k.?"
I nodded my head yes. AJ scooped me up in a big hug and started laughing again.
"What's so funny?"
"Well I guess Howie and Rhonda can get us back for teasing them about pre-honeymoon babies. Looks like we've done it twice."
I started laughing too. "Maybe my dad won't realize to count that far back."
"So – a son huh?"
"It might be. We won't be able to tell for a while yet though."
AJ bent close to my stomach and tapped on it. "Hey you in there…grow a penis!"
