The next morning
Missy's View
I looked over to see Nick all scrunched up on the chair with his clothes still dripping wet. He must have heard me because he woke up.
"Why are you all wet, and why are you over there?" I asked him still not sure if I was dreaming.
He proceeded to tell me about what happened last night. I couldn't help but laugh. "You went to the vending machine and you didn't get me a Dr. Pepper?" I asked. He let out a deep sigh, grabbed some money and the key and walked out.
"What was that?" I heard Howie ask in his sleep.
"Nick left to get me a pop. He told me what happened last night. I feel so bad for you guys."
"What happened last night with Nick?!?" Howie asked, now wide-awake. I thought Rhonda was gonna kill him. If looks could kill, Howie would be at least ten feet under ground right now.
Just then Nick came in and set the pop down on the table and walked right in to the bathroom without saying anything to me.
"I better go see what is wrong. I think he's pissed at me." I walked to the bathroom and tried to open the door but it was locked. "Nick, let me in."
"Won't your Dr. Pepper get warm?" Nick said sarcastically.
"Nick, open this door now and let me in." I walked in, shut the door and sat down on the counter of the sink looking up at him. "Sweetie, what's wrong? I was only joking about the pop. You had a hell of a night, but you could have stayed in my bed with me. I wouldn't have been pissed at you."
"I'm sorry, I'm just not a morning person," he said as stood in front of me putting his hands on my legs. "I just didn't want you to think anything, I don't want to rush things." He grabbed me and gave me a big hug. I loved the feel of his arms around me.
I looked up and kissed him. He picked me up off the counter and I wrapped my legs around him as he was holding me up. "Nick, I love you. I was just too afraid to admit it that's why I was with JC. I wanted to be with you, I needed to be with you, but I didn't know what to do. I am sorry that I didn't just come to you. Can you forgive me?"
"I should drop you right on your ass for not realizing it and putting me through hell, but damn it I love you so much. What do we do now?"
"Shower," I whispered in his ear. He set me down, looked at me and then turned the water on. I felt a little uncomfortable with Rhonda and Howie still outside the door, but I knew the time was right. I needed Nick.
"Hey, other people want in there too," I heard Howie yell at the door.
"Damn! Why does he always interrupt us?" Nick asked sounding a little aggravated. "We're in the shower, go away!" Nick yelled back.
"Hey, I need to get in there now!" Howie said. "We're gonna be leaving soon, and I need to get ready."
"You know, I bet Rhonda is all alone on that big bed over there, why don't you go keep her company – we're a little busy." I said to Howie. After that I heard nothing else. "See honey, you have to know how to put things. Make him see things from a different angle." I said with a smile. "Now, get in the shower."
Amber's View
"Wow!" I said stepping out of the truck to get a better look at the cabin we'd be spending the next couple of days in. "This is some getaway place!"
"Man, this is definitely gonna be good!" Rhonda said heading up the path to the cabin. "Let's get in and unpack – who's got the keys?" We all looked at each other. "Someone did remember to get the keys from Tim?" she asked.
"I thought AJ was gonna do it," Nick said.
"Me?! This was yours and Howie's idea, I thought one of you guys were gonna get them!"
"You mean we drove all the way up here and no one has the keys to get in this place?" Missy said throwing her bag down on the ground and sitting on it. It was pretty late already and all of us we starting to get grumpy and tired.
"We can still get in," I said.
"Yeah and how are you gonna do that with no keys," Nick said looking at me as if I were stupid.
"Well I guess it's officially called breaking and entering but I call it I did not just spend two days in a car with all of you guys for nothing" With that I began to walk along the cabin looking for possible entry points.
"I'm with her!" Missy said as she joined my search. We finally found a small window leading to the storage shed in the basement. Luckily for us it was unlocked.
"Missy you're the smallest one out of all of us so you get the honor of climbing through there," Rhonda said.
Missy slithered through the window and disappeared into the dark cellar. None of us could really see her but we definitely heard the sounds of breaking bottles and the word "SHIT!" come out of Missy's mouth. A few minutes later Missy appeared at the front door holding a bottle of wine in her hand. "Good news – I found were the wine is kept."
We all piled into the cabin and looked around. It was like nothing I'd ever seen before. The living room was the main centerpiece as you walked in. Slightly behind it was the kitchen/dining room and surrounding it were four hallways that lead off in different directions.
"I thought Tim said there were only three bedrooms. I wonder where that fourth hallway goes to." Howie asked.
"Let's go see," AJ said grabbing my hand and leading me down the closest hallway. We ended up at one of the bedrooms. "Looks like we found our room," he said bouncing onto the bed. "Maybe we should try it out right away."
"Maybe we should go help the others," I said laughing at the eager look on his face. "We have all week to try out the bed. Just remember what I told you in the car o.k. ?"
"Yeah, yeah I remember." AJ got up off the bed and we headed back to see what the others had found down their hallways.
"Well it looks like we all know where we're going to be sleeping," Rhonda said as we all came back and discovered that we had found bedrooms.
"That still doesn't tell us what down that fourth hall," Nick said pointing.
"So let's go see." Howie said as we all headed down it.
"Oh this is too good to be true!" I said as we all stared at the giant hot tub we had found.
"Fire this baby up I'm ready for it. How about you babe?" AJ said pulling me close.
"You know I am. How about you guys – are you up for it?" I asked the rest of them. They all stood there giving each other looks.
"Ummm…maybe we'll use it after you two are done," Rhonda said blushing. I could easily read her thoughts.
"Fine by me," AJ said. "Come on let's go get our towels." He started pulling me towards where we had dropped our bags when we came in.
"Don't forget our suits," I said.
AJ looked over to where the others were now heading to their own rooms. "If they're not going to join us we don't need them." He grinned as he grabbed a towel and headed back towards the tub.
Two Days Later
Rhonda View
"Hey guys!" I shouted scaring Amber and AJ. "What's the plans for this afternoon?"
AJ shot me an evil glare. "We were planning on spending some quality time together. Shouldn't you be spending some quality time with Howie?"
"Well, yeah, but he got a song idea in his head and is upstairs writing away. You know how he gets when he's got something on his mind. I figured I'd just let him work for awhile."
"Why don't you go see what Nick and Missy are doing?" Amber said giving me a look similar to the one AJ gave me.
"They went out for a walk somewhere earlier. I haven't seen them since," I said.
AJ and Amber looked at each other and in unison said, "A walk sounds good." They got up and left.
"Well," I thought to myself, "If I would have known that was all it takes to get this cabin empty I would have done it days ago!" I ran upstairs to tell the Howie the good news that the cabin and hot tub were all ours.
